Leading Scottish construction firm, Cruden Building Scotland, which forms part of the wider Cruden Group, has further strengthened its commitment to job provision and skills development by welcoming a total of 27 new apprentices and trainees.
Supporting the next generation of construction professionals, the company has taken on a number of young apprentices, including ten Joiners, four Plumbers, four Bricklayers and four Painters. Five new trainees have also come on board, three of whom will train as Site Managers, alongside a Bonus Surveyor and an Estimator.
The fresh recruits will form part of Cruden’s talented development team. They will now have a total of 58 apprentices and trainees whose career progression is being supported by the company, as well as an additional 54 individuals who are working towards industry qualifications. This further strengthens Cruden’s 50 year long commitment to providing key learning opportunities through its modern apprenticeship and traineeship programme through the Cruden Academy.
More than 100 dedicated young candidates applied for a place on the four-year programme which allows them to undergo on-the-job training within their trade of choice whilst also working towards a formal qualification.
Looking forward to progressing his career journey at Cruden, 17 year old Greg Trainer, Apprentice Plumber, said: “I’d been looking for an apprenticeship opportunity for a while as I liked the idea of being able to earn and learn at the same time. Whilst at school I carried out some work experience as a plumber and absolutely loved it so I knew this was the career path I wanted to take.
“I was absolutely delighted when I found out that Cruden had offered me a place on their apprenticeship programme! I’m really looking forward to further developing my skills and growing with the company alongside like-minded people.”
Fraser Lee, Apprentice Development Surveyor said: “I’m excited to begin my traineeship in Quantity Surveying and join the Cruden team. Working towards my final qualification will be challenging, but I’m confident I’ll be given a high level of support and encouragement from Cruden to help me get there. Working for such a big company in the industry is a great opportunity. I can’t wait to learn more about their projects and get some hands-on experience in my new role.”
Allan Callaghan, Managing Director of Cruden Building Scotland added: “At Cruden, we’re committed to investing in our future industry leaders by providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. Whilst there are economic headwinds facing our industry at present, we believe that now, more than ever, we need to invest in developing the future talent of the business through our Cruden Academy."
